CSNY Fall 2007 Conference on Urban Ministry: "Less Than $2 A Day"
Saturday, December 8, 2007 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
City Seminary of New York Fall Conference on Urban Ministry
“Less Than $2 A Day”

Nearly three billion people – half the world’s population - live on less than two dollars a day, and many families in our city are struggling to meet basic life needs like food, housing, and health care. With more than 1 billion people living in urban shantytowns, informal settlements, and “slums,” this is an urban challenge. In the Scriptures God’s concern for the poor is a concern for justice. As we read in the prophet Isaiah, “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?” The aim of this working conference is to bring to the forefront the challenges of our world, to lift up grassroots and local solutions, and to root our calling in biblical faith.
