Winter 2013

Thursday, January 17th, 2013.  5:00pm-9:00pm
Symposium on Women in Leadership and Ministry: Work-Life Balance and Calling in a Global Urban World
Hope Campus (302 West 119th Street, NYC)

Join us for the opening reception and public panel of the First City Seminary of New York Symposium on Women in Leadership in Ministry: "Work-Life Balance and Calling in a Global Urban World"

In a global urban world characterized by change, complexity and ever-increasing responsibility, women in leadership and ministry face the tension of valuing both relationship and achievement.  Whether mother, daughter, sister, friend, pastor, church worker, missionary or tent-maker, women strive for balance as they juggle multiple roles and responsibilities. In whatever sphere of life one is called to minister, there is a vital need to nurture and nourish one’s soul and body in the course of service and sacrifice for others.

How does the global urban world impact our ministry praxis? How do we juggle competing commitments and responsibilities to maintain work-life balance? How can we discern our calling in this particular season of our lives?

Join us in a journey of action, prayer and reflection as we address these critical issues with our panel speakers, local and international ministry leaders and scholars from Asia, Africa and North America, engage our souls and senses in spiritual and communal fellowship, and appreciate God’s presence together in particular places in New York City.
