MA Beta Course: First Urban Churches
Hope Campus (302 West 119th Street, NYC)-
Course facilitators: Dr Mark Gornik and Maria Liu WongThis course seeks to understand the early church as an urban and expansionary movement. It involves reading the New Testament as the story and experience of Jesus, moving followers of Jesus into the creation of unique communities within the urban world of the first century. Particular focus is given to Paul's epistles and the issues of community and devotion in the early churches.Additional course date: April 11, 2013.Registration is limited. Apply early. Course facilitator: Dr Mark Gornik +Through a close look at Genesis, Psalms, the Gospels and Revelation, this course stresses a foundational reading approach to the Old Testament and New Testament to understand God's purposes for the world and the cultivation of a community of holy people. An emphasis is on models for spiritual formation and discipleship within the canon.Additional course date: April 29, 2013.Registration is limited. Apply early.
